a nice weekend

First I want to say thank you to everyone who left messages on here, on FB, emailed and called...I am so blessed with wonderful friends and I am extremely thankful for you. And how awesome is it that I don't talk to or see some of you on a regular basis, yet you are there for me when I need you most. I love y'all!

I had such a good day on Friday. We had our planning day at school and we got a lot accomplished and had more fun together than we have in a while. I haven't laughed that much or that hard in a very long time...and it felt great! Then my neighbor and another friend came over after school and we white-trashed it in the driveway until it got too cold. It was a good night.

On Saturday the Martins came over around 2 and hung out well into the night. I have missed Kre and Kyle so much...Kre and I got pretty caught up with each other, but there may be 2 or 3 unfinished conversations. (Darn kids!!) Speaking of kids - the Martin kiddos are PRECIOUS! And our punks loved playing with them. So enjoy some pictures of some pretty cute kids:

a small request

I use this blog mostly to record funny things my kids say or special moments and occasions in our lives because I most definitely will forget them if I don't. I know some people pour their soul out for all the web to see, and I am usually more of the open-book-tell-anybody-anything type but not here - when it is very personal. But I have a small request of the 5 of you who visit here. I would greatly appreciate you adding me/Andy/us/our family to your prayer list. I am personally working through some stuff right now that I feel completely overwhelmed and helpless with. Andy also needs prayers for some things with him. And the combination of these things together led me to my request for prayers for us together and for our family. I just ask that you join us in praying for patience, strength, continued faith, and mostly allowing God to be in control (this is more for me). Thanks...

:)

100th day

We celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday. My team always dresses like we are 100 years old. The kids are encouraged to do the same, or wear something with 100 things on it. I made Jake a shirt with 100 aggie football helmets...and arranged them to say "100th day!". I was pretty proud of myself. At the risk of inviting stalkers attracted to my hotness...

life of the party

Abby had a great time at her party Sunday night. You can see from these pictures she has no problem in the spotlight...

Stay crazy, my girl!

I was wrong

I always thought that Hudson would be my first ER visit - that boy has no fear or any concept of his actual age and ability level. But it was my cautious Jake that changed our nice, peaceful, hang out at home Friday night to a 5 hour stay at Baylor Regional. He fell off of Emma's playset and broke his arm. Of course he was crying pretty hard...mostly out of panic I think. It was obviously broken from the way it looked and that freaked him out. He also got very upset that I wasn't crying. I go into supercalm nurse mode in those situations. But he calmed down in the car and as long as we explained everything to him in detail he was good. He even fell asleep waiting for the ortho to get there. They sedated him to set it in place and cast it, pumped him full of morphine and we were on our way. I have a new unbelieveable respect for friends that have been through much more uncertain medical situations...when you go in for a broken arm and they discuss the risks of respiratory distress and throw out the words "life support" it's hard to stay calm. Oh, and then they make you leave the room! But he was awesome...super tough and the doctors and nurse adored him. So a basketball season ends early, a baseball season will be skipped, but we are so thankful that he will be as good as new in about six weeks.

Waking up to a new cast...

Jake said a bunch of hilarious things throughout the night, but I cannot remember one of them. Should have written them down!!!

Lost in translation

The other day Jake and I were at Kohl's and he kept bugging me for some new socks. I was tired, on pain meds, in pain, and trying to remember the REAL reason I had even gone into Kohl's when I actually focused on what he was saying.
What I heard: "Can I get some nazi socks?" WHAT???!!!
After some description by Jake I realized he was saying "Can I get some not-see socks?". As in, the super low kind that don't go above your shoes. Whew. Crisis averted.

Abby...part 2

The kids get to choose the restaurant we go to when it's their birthday and Abby decided (after MUCH flip-flopping) that she wanted to go to "the place with the chips" - also known as Pappasitos. Yes, she IS my daughter. We had a great time with Mum, Grandaddy, Nana, Poppy, Daddy, Jake, Hudson, and Sherry eating and opening gifts. Abby already made it clear that she wanted the waiters to sing to her (unlike Jake, who would rather eat broccoli than have any extra attention on him). I don't think she expected them to be quite so loud...
The waiters head her way and she's excited...

She's loving the hat...

And then the dude had to go and startle her with how loud his announcement was and she crumbled...

She cried the entire time...poor baby! But she recovered in time to enjoy her cake.

Abby...you are my heart. I adore you. I love your laugh - may it always come as easy as it does now. I love your sweet spirit and the way you care about your family and friends. I hate that you are growing older, but I love watching what you become. Stay independent, stay headstrong, stay loving, stay happy. Happy birthday Abby-girl.
