it's been a while...
haven't done a top ten in ages, but one came to mind today so here it is...
top 10 things i miss about my thumb
10. the ability to type with decent speed. i don't miss the ability to use the shift to capitalize because i don't use it normally anyway...but typing is a pain with one hand.
9. i now have to fasten my bra and step into it. pain!
8. it is very difficult to button pants. elastic is my friend these days.
7. shaving my right armpit and some places on my legs are very hard to reach. maybe i'll go european for a while.
6. applying deodorant to said armpit.
5. forget fixing my hair. good thing i'm a low maintenance girl.
4. folding laundry and washing dishes. darn...i guess andy wil get to enjoy these life experiences for a few weeks.
3. picking up my kids.
2. playing xbox. oh wait...that would be andy's list.
and the number one thing i miss about my thumb...the ability to do anything and everything MYSELF!
Dr. appt in the morning...find out about surgery and (thank the good Lord) get this splint OFF.
also...andy will know tomorrow if he is returning to the ranks of the gainfully employed. prayers welcome :)

no wonder i'm sore and tired
it's the time of summer when i start thinking about all the things i need to do to get ready for the new school year. this year is especially nerve-wracking because i am moving to kindergarten for the first time in 11 years. nana had the kids for the day so i went to my classroom to work for a while. with no a/c. while it's 115 outside. i moved a ton of furniture and started planning the layout of my room. after about 4 hours my old teammate (sniff) jen and i went to the movies. when i got home we made our daily trip to the pool. ate dinner, visited with neighbors and inherited an impromptu sleepover with abby's friends. i am so sore and tired i think i may just sleep here in the office chair. before i doze off, here are some fun pictures from the pool today:

new tricks
Hudson has discovered hats suddenly and wants to wear one everywhere, even to sleep. So cute...
He also wakes up and completely dresses himself before he even comes out of his room. He does the same for pj's and if we are going swimming. He knows which pull-up is for what and is so proud of himself. Today he came down with a pair of Jake's underwear on (backward) and said he was a big boy. So I switched him into his own big boy undies to see how it would go. About 20 minutes later, it went...or more specifically he went - and NOT in the potty. Didn't even blink either....kept right on playing until I noticed. Oh well. Another day...

playing catch-up
I never seem to have time to blog these days and so many little things are lost before I can get them written down! Summer is not supposed to be this busy!
Last Friday Andy and I had a whole 24 hours to celebrate our 10th anniversary. He won't let me load the picture of him asleep in the chair, but we started by getting pedicures together. Say what you want about a dude getting a pedi...they rub the tar out of your legs and feet and it feels GOOD! Then we had an incredible dinner at Javier's. We slept in and went to the pool without feeling like 2 pack mules and, even more importantly, without having to supervise children. yea for that! We always take our picture holding a sign showing the years together (thanks Millers for the hijacked idea!)

The next night we went to my parents to eat and watch fireworks.
I love my boy Hud!

Silly faces
Jake with no fingers in the ears!!!
Poppy and his girl
Totally in awe
not quite sure what hud's face means and abby is striking a pose, but whatever
On Sunday we went to a skating party at a roller rink (I rocked it, by the way).
How sweet are they?

it's on
Lord help me, I think I've met my match in my youngest. He is one feisty little dude. But darn it if he isn't the CUTEST thing ever. So that pretty much equals a spoiled(manipulative) and hard to discipline 3 year old. Just some recent Hudson tidbits I don't want to forget so I am putting them here...
*he is in the middle of doing ANYTHING that he has been asked not to do or asked to stop doing and the standard response (while engaging in said violation) "i not doing any-fing" with innocent hands in the air
*he hits. all the time. with his hands, with his blanket, with toys...and he thinks he's playing with you. and after he hits you he has the most evil laugh. i'm going to try to get it on tape.
*yesterday he was totally disobeying me and i turn to get onto him (and moved toward him to give him the forewarned spanking) and he ran across the room and said "haha you can't spank me". karma did kick in though because he then put his blanket on his head covering his eyes and continued walking and taunting me right into the stair banister.
*our neighbor cecilia calls him her boyfriend and teases him all the time. she is originally from peru and speaks several languages, including spanish, and has an accent. today at the pool she said to hud "i have a boyfriend and his name is...?" and hud said "chico!"
i love that kid. i hope he's not the death of me :)
