Ready or not

Abby and Jake up bright and early this morning, ready to go.

Jake and Mrs. Cobb at Meet the Teacher last Friday.

I am more than exhausted. There needs to be a new word for how tired I am. :) Jake had a fantastic day...Mrs. Cobb insisted all day that he must be a third-grader because he is so smart, so of course he shares that with anyone who will listen. I have a pretty good class, I think. Some of them are a little chatty already, which is never a good sign. But I'll whip 'em into shape. Or I'll just drink a lot. Whichever.
Off to bed.

Oh. My. Gosh.

For Mother's Day Andy gave me tickets to see Kenny Chesney in Houston. The concert was on Saturday. Let me just share a few pictures and a video taken from our seats...

Yes, that is the stage behind us. :)

It was such a fun weekend! We stayed at Hotel ZaZa, which was supercool. We saw the dude that plays Steve on Sex and the City at the hotel. The girl standing next to us at the concert caught Keith Urban's sweatband and rubbed Keith sweat on my cheek and neck. Andy and Russ helped the crew put away the folding chairs before Kenny came on, so we got awesome "local crew" tshirts. Andy even used his to get backstage where the buses were, but he left when they tried to actually make him work. :) We had the most amazing breakfast ever at the hotel...and our room had a beautiful view with a balcony, rose petals scattered all around and chocolate-covered strawberries with champagne. Can I just say that I did not want to come home? It was a perfect end to a pretty perfect summer.

My girl

The kids are staying with my parents the rest of the week because I have 2 days of workshops to attend. As much as I am enjoying the quiet house I already miss my kids. Earlier today Abby came to me and said "I need a hug. I haven't had enough hugs today." Man, I love that girl!

Birthday Boy

Hudson's party was so much fun! Even with it being 104, the kids had a great time in the sand.

I cannot believe Hudson is 2. Why does it have to go so fast? Here are my top 10 favorite things about Hudson:

10. The way he walks with one arm swinging really high back and forth...and he runs faster than his little legs can keep up so you are always waiting for the faceplant.

9. The way he answers "yes" - he almost always says "Uh huh...yes" in a very matter of fact voice.

8. The way he "tattles" on the other kids. He will go off on them, but I can only understand the name and maybe one other word like 'hit' or 'push'...he means business though.

7. The way he says "Daa-eee!!!" when he gets onto his Daddy.

6. His favorite word is "awesome"...he uses it all the time. It is so funny to hear a toddler use the word awesome.

5. The way he dances to the veggie tales song in the car. I will try to load a video of it soon because I know you have no idea what I am talking about.

4. How fearless he is. This will almost surely come back to bite me, but I love it.

3. The way he is so attached to me right now - but not to the point where I can't leave him. It's the perfect amount.

2. The way he points to his chest and says "right here" when you ask "where's the mess?"

And absolutely my favorite thing about him right now is:

1. The way he grabs my face with both hands and kisses me again and again...with hugs in between. He is the sweetest thing.

Happy Birthday Hudson!

my masterpiece

Tomorrow is Hudson's party (and actual birthday...but we won't go there right now) and I apparently went insane for a moment - I decided to make the cake myself. We are going to Life's a Beach to play in the ginormous sand box so the cake HAD to be a sandcastle. This one is actually for the grown-ups. I'll have pictures of what the kids get after the party.

sucked in

I got a wild hair the other day and created a facebook account. I went into it thinking "I am too old to be doing this! Shouldn't I be in high school or have a child that I am spying on if I do this?". Um, I guess not! I already found a bunch of high school and college friends...and it is addictive! I love catching up with people I haven't talked to in 15 years (that's just sad on so many levels). Now I'll really be up past my bedtime. Great.
